An 18-year-old Green Track student from the General Arts Department of Frafraha Community Day Senior High school (FACOSH), Melody Agbetorwu Owusu has been allegedly abducted by an unknown taxi driver at Adenta in Adenta Municipality of the Greater Accra region.

According to the family, Melody dressed up last week Sunday afternoon and left the house for Madina market to purchase some items, but never came back.

She later called the family on Thursday, 6th December, through her personal mobile phone and reported that she was kidnapped, and placed in an unknown uncompleted building together with seven other victims.

Explaining to the family via mobile phone, Melody alleged, she took a taxi from Adenta New Site (Last Stop), about two minutes’ walk from their house and left for Adenta barrier, where she was to board a commercial vehicle to Madina market.

She observed the taxi driver cleaned her seat with a suspicious napkin, and a few minutes after she sat in the taxi, she lost for herself, she only woke up and realized her new unpleasant accommodation.

Though it is exactly one week as she got missing, the family says, no one has ever called to demand ransom or anything from the family before releasing her, and she also did not tell them what the alleged kidnappers are demanding and where exactly she is?  Since she is the only person who can call, immediately she hangs up their calls, she switches off the cell, claiming, she is saving battery to be in touch with the family.

According to the girl’s mother and maternal grandfather, Mrs Lydia Geze and Mr Gabriel Geze respectively,  who spoke to MyNewsGh.com they lodged complaint at Adenta Police station, on Tuesday, 4th December, but the officers just told them, “the girl  left for her boyfriend’s house”, so Adenta police  are not doing anything serious about the issue.

Though it not clear why the alleged kidnappers are not demanding for ransom or ceased her phone,  MyNewsGh.com understands the family on Friday, December 7, lodged another complaint at Kosoa police station in the Central region, following  Google map searches indicating she is in that vicinity.
