nbu project manager charges residents to participate in local gov’t activities

Programs Manager for NBU Project Mr. Daniel Okity Boamah has made a strong appeal to residents and stakeholders of Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly to actively involve themselves in all local government processes of the assembly vis-a-vis the development of the area.
The foregoing he underscored will help in heightening the level of accountability, transparency and will again ensure an effective utilization of  funds and resources  disbursed by government to the assembly for the development of the district.
” It will in the process keep authorities of the assembly on their toes for an effective delivery consequent to the daily monitoring done by residents and stakeholders in the area” he said.
The outspoken NBU Project Manager Mr Daniel Okity Boamah raised these statement in an interview with THE PRESS RADIO during the holding of a TOWN HALL MEETING at Asokore Mampong Municipality in Ashanti region.
The Meeting was held to offer an open platform for the discussion of issues relative to the development of the municipality and highlight projects executed by the assembly. The No Business as Usual (NBU) Project is a collaborative project of SOS Children Villages and the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly being rolled out within the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive Officer Hon Alhaji Alidu Seidu, MCD Mrs Stella Owusu Aduomi, Chief of Asokore Mampong Nana Boakye Ansah, Council of Bongo Chiefs, Assembly Members and Heads of various departments of the assembly engaged with over 700 key stakeholders from government, private sector, academia, civil society organisations and a cross section of community members.
Still in his statement, Mr. Daniel Okity Boamah advised authorities of the assembly to be transparent enough to the community members and engage all stakeholders for joint action to bring development.
“The goal of NBU Project is to ensure that there is an increased level of social accountability and transparency in the governance process in Asokore Mampong Municipality. The meeting is one of the platforms that NBU Project provide for the Assembly especially by building their capacity to engage all stakeholders like private sector, CSOs, Traditional Authorities and the community from time to time on developmental issues. This is to ensure improved participation in the local governance process by community members. The stakeholders on their part can then rally behind the Assembly to bring all the needed development to the municipality.” he noted.
