SCOOP Update: N/R Sports Director Salamatu Alhassan exposed in GH¢78K alleged embezzlement

The Northern Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has embezzled a total of GH¢78,382 according to a document sighted by MyNewsGh.com and signed by Salisu Omaru, Chief Accountant of the authority.

According to the document, an audit conducted into the tenure of Salamatu Alhassan from January to October 2018 revealed the stated amount was collected as revenue but not paid into the Authority’s account in clear violation of Section 18 of the Financial Administration Regulation of 2003.

“In carrying out a review of your work as the Regional Director of the Authority in Tamale, from January —October, 2018 it has come to our notice that, you have collected revenue totaling Sixty —Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty —Two Ghana Cedis (GH¢68,382.00) but failed to pay the said amount into the Authority’s account in clear violation of Section 18 of the Financial Administration Regulation of 2003”, the letter indicated.

It directed the Regional Director as a matter urgency to also refund GH¢10,000 paid into her personal account by the Local Hajj Committee to the Authority’s account without delay

“You are by this letter instructed to refund the money into the official account with immediate effect and submit the bank pay-in-slip to Head Office for verification within two weeks or provide details of how such monies were spent with memo’s, invoices and payment vouchers authorizing such payment. You are further directed to refund the Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00) paid into your personal account by the Local Hajj Committee to the Authority’s account without delay. Your strict compliance is anticipated”, it further directed.

Attempts to speak with Madam Salamatu Alhassan by MyNewsGh.com proved futile as she is yet to respond to her telephone calls and text messages.
