Kwaku Asaafo Agyei, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Communication Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako is subjecting the elephant family to ridiculein the region, as his reading and understanding of article 66 of the constitution is ridiculous, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

According to him, Chairman Wontumi as affectionately called appears to be suffering from “ignorance” and identity crises which is informed by the kind of comments he makes about the NDC and even on nationalissues.

“There are issues he puts out and it is obvious it demonstrates the ignorance of the party in the Ashanti Region”, he stated on Kumasi-based Nhyira Fm in a studio discussion MyNewsGh.com.

Commenting attempts by Chairman Wontumi to block Mahama to run for the 2020 elections on the ticket of the NDC, he described him as stack illiterate who must learn basic law and stop embarrassing the party which touts itself as one for the elitist.

He argued that the country is governed by laws and if he is not able to read though professes  to have completed Prempeh College, he should seek the support of those who can read to explain details of constitution to him rather than engage in such an embarrassing spree.

“I will prove to you he cannot read article  66 states of the 1992 constitution makes clear that provision. An SHS or JHS student who reads this will understand but it is surprising that a whole Regional Chairman is going around exhibiting ignorance….it is very embarrassing. He has a penchant of saying things to disgrace his own party”, he observed.

It would be recalled that earlier thisweek that Chairman Wontumi threatened to challenge what he described as the 3rdterm bid of former President John Dramani Mahama stating that it is in violation of Article 66 of the 1992constitution of Ghana.

He indicated that he was going to apply to the Supreme Court for an interpretation to Article 66 of the constitution to help put the matter this week.

Mr Antwi Boasiako said he was also going to approach former President Jerry John Rawlings for him to pressure Mr Mahama to desist from contesting the next elections on the ticket of any political party including the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“The state could not continue to spend money on all former presidents only for one (Mahama) to nicodemously sneak out and contest anelection on the ticket of a political party,” a petition sent toparliament read in part.
