Taxi driver arrested over death of girlfriend
The Police at Coaltar, in the Ayensuoano District in the Eastern Region have arrested a 36 year old taxi driver Samuel Owureku for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Edaa Vio, 19.
The deceased is reported to hail from Dzatsui New Town, near Adoagyiri near Nsawam.
According to an eye witness, one Yaa Amedi of Amaadikrom where the incident occurred, she and other neighbours at around midnight on Wednesday heard some unsual noise from the room of the suspect.
She said early the following morning, the body of the deceased was found in a nearby bush on the Kraboakese road.
Ms Amedi said the neighbours suspected Owureku and reported the incident to the police.
She said when Owureku was arrested by the Police it was noticed that he had taken in some unknown substance suspected to be poison, so he was rushed to the hospital.
When the Ghana News Agency contacted a source at the Coaltar Police Station, it was revealed that the suspect is on admission at the hospital under a Police guard.
The source said the body of the deceased has since been sent to the Nsawam Government Hospital for autopsy.
